This thesis research investigated the creative process of architecture students in design studios from the perspectives of cultural capital, by Pierre Bourdieu, and the creative process, by Paul Torrance. The teaching-learning practice was analyzed based on Donald Schön's reflection-in-action concept, integrating Design Thinking strategies to enhance creativity. The methodology adopted was a case study with first-semester students at FAU/UFRJ, using socioeconomic and cultural questionnaires, interviews, observation, creativity tests, and workshops to stimulate an experimental group compared to a control group. Results indicate that FAU/UFRJ students are more creative than the average university population, especially in cognitive and external aspects. The experimental group showed improvement in idea enrichment and 21% higher approval rates in design studios. The influence of cultural capital, the entrance exam scores, and the completion of the specific skills test were not statistically significant in creativity. The research contributed to Brazilian psychometric databases and suggested new strategies and pathways for design studios.
