Doctoral Thesis
This thesis is fundamentally based on the premise of inclusion as a form of interaction and the right to the city, considered in its sensory and physical spatial dimensions. Its territorial focus is on the study of an urban open space, specifically Mirandinha Park in the city of Boa Vista, Roraima, with the aim of evaluating whether its characteristics promote the inclusion of children on the autism spectrum and how these public spaces can lead to sensory and interactive discoveries that contribute to the development of autistic children. Furthermore, it intends to develop guidelines for Mirandinha Park to improve coexistence and the possibility of social exchanges and interactions. The methodology adopted uses instruments that map behaviors, recording through sketches the scenes and actors that compose the landscape, seeking to reveal the perspectives of those who contribute to the inclusion of autistic children (educators, health professionals, and parents). As a result, this research aims to contribute to more sensitive planning, with a view to implementing comprehensive inclusion policies that include sensory accessibility as a way to provide integration between user and environment, looking beyond the normative parameters of accessibility and incorporating sensory, affective and relational dimensions in the design and planning of urban space.
