Dissertação de Mestrado
The objective of this work is to develop a study on the safety of protected buildings, within the issue of Heritage at Risk - of which the main focus will be on the topic of preventing and fighting fire, focusing on the Museu Histórico e Diplomático do Itamaraty. Considering the increasing number of large-scale fires – in Brazil and around the world – a study is being sought to improve heritage protection practices within this context. Most accidents of this nature have internal causes and can be avoided or minimized through measures aimed at maintenance and safety. Based on the prevention of disasters of this magnitude, it is proposed to develop research into this risk and other possible emergency situations of this nature. It is necessary for Brazilian standards to address particular aspects of this type of building, and for this to happen, a more in-depth study of the methodologies that are implemented is necessary. This research will consist of adopting empirical procedures, such as a bibliographical review that addresses the topic “Prevention and Safety against Fire and Panic”, prepared based on publications of different natures in the area. This study was based on publications by authors and institutions whose works correlate with the proposed subject, as well as consultations with national and international public policies such as laws, decrees and standards, also within the aforementioned theme.
