The research presented aims to investigate the identity relations that reverberate in spaces of appropriation of public spaces in Bangu, located in the industrial suburb of the West Zone of Rio de Janeiro. Its historical and heritage significance was consolidated by the former Companhia Progresso Industrial do Brasil - the Bangu Textile Factory. The growth of the neighborhood around this architectural element dictated the forms of occupation and use of spaces by its inhabitants, in accordance with identity relations promoted by a cultural dynamic distant from the city center, providing conditions for analysis that are enriched by its unique characteristics. Economic, morphological, and cultural changes in the last 40 years have transformed life in the neighborhood, although its past still evokes nostalgic feelings for many residents. Recognizing the importance of the built environment in shaping the identity of places, influencing the work of local memory that attributes meanings to spaces, the general aim of this research is to investigate how the everyday urban landscape is revealed in the construction of this suburban identity, in the context of a "banguense" memory. Based on an ethnodynamic methodology, the study proposes the use of tools specific to architecture and urbanism, combined with ethnographic approaches developed by LASC/UFRJ. Participant observations mediated by photography, immersion in situ, semi-structured interviews, and mapping of manifestations are the tools chosen to support the ethnographic method used. In the context presented, the aim is not only to map some of these landscapes, specific to the "banguense" identity, or reveal their importance for the maintenance of local identity but, most importantly, to generate a sensitive perspective on how they are understood and the potential they have to publicize a sociocultural image of Bangu.
