This research is based on concerns about the place(s) of women in the city, how they appropriate and experience urban spaces, understanding the urban environment as a place mostly designed for the experience of a male body. The relationship between women victims of domestic violence and the city is an essential theme for broadening the discussion of the Right to the City, a concept crossed by issues relating to gender, race, sexuality and social class minorities. An analysis of the relationship between how women experience and appropriate urban public spaces is justified by the need to review the system of open spaces in large cities, as spaces associated with fear and insecurity at various times, and to pay attention to how the trauma suffered by these women affects their routes and forms of appropriation. The experience in cities is not the same for all the bodies that move through the spaces, which creates the need XI to review the urbanism practiced and propose new solutions to problems common to metropolises. At the same time, the problem of domestic violence has been increasing over the years, especially since the Covid-19 pandemic in Brazil. Women don't become as invisible in the city as men can feel, and the fear of walking in the streets can even be paralyzing with the aggravation of domestic violence, practiced precisely in the archetype of safety of every human being. In this way, the aim of this research is to analyze the relationship of appropriation of public spaces in the city by women who have suffered domestic violence, using the concept of Affection. The research will use the ethnographic method, derived from ethnographic observations widely used in Urban Anthropology and appropriated in architecture and urbanism by LASC/UFRJ, based on the narratives of women in focus groups delimited by participation in conversation circles on the subject and the application of a Desires Workshop. The aim was to let the interlocutors of the research develop their narratives in order to bring out the sensitive dynamics with the spaces narrated in the city, seeking to understand the ways of being of these women as creators of Places and, possibly, rejectors of various dominant systems in this socio spatial construction.
